KITE FAMILY - OVERLAND MISSIONS

kite update.jpg

Hello,
I hope this update finds you doing amazing! We are praying for each one of you as Covid continues to disrupt normal life. We are praying for all the kids as the school year starts differently then it normally does. Please reach out if their is anything specific we can be praying for. Thank you to each person that has continued to sow financially during everything that is going on. We love you

God is doing so many amazing things here in Zambia. I could write a book already sharing the testimonies that are happening. Miracles are taking place! People are giving their life to Jesus and the Holy Spirit is moving powerfully in the Hospital!
                 In the past 8 weeks
43 people received the baptism of the Holy Spirit
9 people were delivered from demons
32 people gave their life to Jesus

We have some current needs that we want you to be praying for with us!
#1 - We need to increase our monthly budget in order to meet the needs at the hospital
#2 - I (Brandy) need to purchase a cheap vehicle that I can use in Kalene Hill area. I never Thought this would be a need but I Desperately need my own vehicle that i can put hand controls in and also teach my disciple to drive. We are being asked to go different places and I can’t get their on my scooter.
#3 - homeschooling for the girls

Meet Josaphat:

We met this incredible young man last year around September. He enrolled in our Discipleship school which started in January. Before school started he was coming over to my house and we were translating LaDonna Osborn’s Gospel for kids coloring book into Lunda language. It’s an incredible coloring book! We will be using this in the children’s ward at the hospital. The kids don’t have anything to do while they are patients and this gives them the opportunity to color while learning about Jesus. It took us months to translate it from English to Lunda and I paid Josaphat for his help. He took the money he earned and started a garden using a technique that he learned from our Overland Missions sustain team called Farming God’s way. I am SOO proud of him! Look how his garden has flourished! I love that he invested his money into something incredible! His garden is growing so well that he has been able to bless those around him that are struggling to eat. Jospahat is wanting to do full time ministry when he finishes our discipleship school. Be on the look out for a video of him sharing his heart.

God Bless,
Brandy Kite

SHANNON EATON - DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

Shannon first came to the Kids Alive International (KAI) family in 2006 serving as a missionary nurse in Lima, Peru for the Juniper Tree Children’s Home and Manchay Oasis Care Center. She served with them until July 2011. She still felt God’s call to full-time ministry and after receiving healing from being burned out, she served in Tegucigalpa, Honduras for three years with World Gospel Outreach. Shannon felt God calling her to do member care full-time in May 2014. In 2016, she returned to the KAI family to serve as the member care facilitator in the Dominican Republic to help teach, equip, and mentor the KAI missionaries and Dominican directors who serve children-at-risk for Christ. Together they are making a difference in the lives of these children, their communities, and their nation.

Since arriving in the Dominican Republic three years ago, Shannon has on-boarded four singles, one couple and one family as new missionaries to the Dominican Republic; off-boarded four single and one family of missionaries as they returned back to the US; and facilitated women’s Bible studies and annual retreats for the missionaries, directors and missionary women. She has helped to mediate various conflicts; helped with various life and ministry transitions; and helps in managing the KAI intern program. Many of the missionaries, eight adults presently, have previously served as interns in the DR. Shannon has worked with about 60 missionaries since arriving in June 2016.

After much research, God led Shannon to an organization called Safe Place Ministry which does counseling for singles, married couples, families as well as pastoral care. This organization is now partners with Kids Alive DR as their resource for any counseling and pastoral care the missionaries may need. Safe Place Ministry has also been a great resource for Kids Alive International as a whole. Most recently, Shannon has been trained to do crisis incident stress debrief through Safe Place Ministry. Since April 2019, Shannon has been able to use this training with a handful of people following traumatic incidents and thus has helped them process through the trauma.

Shannon’s favorite aspects of her ministry are mentoring some of the teenage girls and having play dates with some of the younger missionary kids.
